Learned how to play when I was a kid but never actually "learned how to play" (didn't play often; no deconstruction of the game whatsoever) until a couple years ago, and more recently I've really been taking it up a few notches with my study and game-play. Favorite playing style probably is that of Korchnoi with his calculating, counter-attacking style. Also the guys (and girls) everyone likes: Tal, Fischer, Kasparov, Keres, Karpov, Nakamura, Kramnik, Polgar, Carlsen, Anand, Capablanca, Morphy, Lasker, etc. Also Fine, Reshevsky, Najdorf, Portisch, Gelfand, Pillsbury (Somerville, Massachusetts raised), and I guess all the world champions. Botvinnik, Petrosian, Spassky, Alekhine. |
