HenryAdams1838: I hope you're still out there moving the pieces, Gary. Good knowing you. |

Sep-02-15 L'Ami vs Mamedyarov, 2005
|
HenryAdams1838: After 44. e5 white's position is a little delicate but not so bad. I think he can achieve the draw, which is reasonable given the evaluation before the move. Anyway, black plays 44...a3 and tries to trap the bishop. Afterwards, both kings get stuck on their respective guard ... |

HenryAdams1838: After 9...fxe5 it looks like white is on his way to a better endgame. What am I missing? |

Jul-15-12 Fischer vs Smyslov, 1967

HenryAdams1838: Mistreaver: It looks like after Re3, defending the pawn, the game is still drawn. There are no pawn levers really. It'd just be a lot of piece shuffling. |

HenryAdams1838: Okay, figured it out - black is threatening to get his bishop outside of the pawn chain unless white forces e6... |

Jun-13-12 Maroczy vs Albin, 1896
|
HenryAdams1838: What's with 13...b5? Maybe Re8 would be better to play an eventual e5. White isn't doing anything so there should be no hurry. Also if you just release the pawn tension right away and then kick out the recapturing piece you should gain some space on the queen wing. |

HenryAdams1838: I just got why this is the Columbus Variation. He was interested in trying to work with the Spanish but he was really had Italian in his heart. Someone had a sense of humor ;) |

HenryAdams1838: What do you think of 9. d5?
Here's a game in 30 I played as black at my club against an 1850 player 300 points higher than I am. 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. O-O Nxe4 6. d4 b5 7. d5 bxa4 8.
