How to get a 2000 blitz rating on fics:

As black always respond to e4 with c6 and to d4 with e6 intending a bishop check on b4 should c4 follow d4 and if not then play a queens indian setup

As white play something flexible like nf3: vs d5 play same as with black but with extra tempo e.g. nf3 d5 e3. If black plays something else it would usually be a dutch defence (play fianchetto variations of these) or something with e5 and eventually f5 or sicilian type setups with c5 (aim for equality here by symmetry and just move quickly)

FICSwoodpusher: From page 166-167. My favourite game of this volume. I like this variation of the queens gambit declined so much that I even try to play it with the white pieces. How I do it is by playing the exchange variation of the Caro and having the same pawn structure and pieces ...

FICSwoodpusher: <kingscrusher> your recommendation is 1. Nf3 f5 2. d3 Nc6 3. e4 e5 4. d4 ... which is a sort of falkbeer (is that the one where black plays d5 in response to the kings gambit? not sure) countergambit with colours reversed. What about 1. Nf3 f5 2. d3 Nc6 3. d4 ... and ...

FICSwoodpusher: After 11. e4 the pawn structure reminds me of the opening ==> Czech Benoni. I don't claim to be any good at chess but it seems to me that this sort of transposition was not a good one for the black pieces. The black knight on d7 is blocking his own bishop which will be ...
