CaptGeorge: Yes, I would have played Rc8 to force rook exchange. White's pawns are better situated to win the endgame, so the faster we get there, the quicker I would win.

   Apr-02-08 J Polgar vs Suba, 1993 (replies)

CaptGeorge: Beautiful combo, I saw the rook move, but not whole combination.

Jan-24-08 Fischer vs Spassky, 1992 (replies)

CaptGeorge: Nope. Saw first move, but not that continuation. I'd have brought K into play at e4 after d6 Ke6.

   Jan-14-08 T Lanchava vs W Spoelman, 2005 (replies)

CaptGeorge: I been working a lot lately. Nice to be back with an easy problem for a change. Pretty straight forward, although I admit I had to look at it for a minute or two.

   Dec-28-07 C Bielicki vs Smyslov, 1964 (replies)

CaptGeorge: Well.. I saw 28. ... h3 29. Kf1 ?? Time to peek. === Beautiful! I just didn't see it. I gonna blame it on working too hard today and staying up too late. :)

   Dec-22-07 D H Campora vs I Morovic Fernandez, 1981 (replies)

CaptGeorge: Let's see... Positions: about even Black Attacks: Nc5xBd3 12. Bxh2 ... Looks good, but speculative for me. I don't see a forced mate or material gain here. ..humm... 12. Re3 ... Protect d3B & prepare kingside attack I don't see a clear line, but this looks like my best ...

   Dec-20-07 G Ilivitsky vs Keres, 1955 (replies)

CaptGeorge: Looks like a K push to h4. Then closing ranks with h3. Not sure where to go next....oh well, I'm tired...time for a peek! === OK. I had the right start. Looks like Black will lose at least a rook. Keres just got it over quickly.

Dec-19-07 Carlsen vs Short, 2004 (replies)

CaptGeorge: My line works! But, I see why Nigel moved: 53. ... Kd7 The game was lost, but he gave Magnus the chance to make a mistake by taking the rook too quickly. I re-learned something today: "Always let your opponent make a mistake."

Dec-18-07 Dunbar vs Chawkin, 1925 (replies)

CaptGeorge: Easy One! Assuming K hasn't moved, 0-0-0+ & free R! Should be enough to win.

   Dec-17-07 H Bohm vs R Hernandez Onna, 1979 (replies)

CaptGeorge: Ah yes! Qxg5! Easy Monday. Not a forced mate, but a game winning move for sure.
