Oct-18-22 Tassilo von der Lasa (replies)

BarakSaltz: Many of his games played in Scandinavia are not available on online historical chess game databases, but are available via Google Books. More difficult to research than his Scandinavian games would be whether he recorded games he played when in Brazil.

   Oct-17-22 Oscar Chajes

BarakSaltz: I think Chajes in Yiddish or in the Ashkenazi pronunciation of Hebrew is "animals"/"beasts"/"creatures".

   Sep-23-22 Vasyl Ivanchuk (replies)

BarakSaltz: I think Will Sasso parodized Ivanchuk as Rui Peranio in an episode of the 3rd season of Mad TV , orginally aired in 1997. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2b...

   Sep-11-22 Morphy vs Loewenthal, 1858

BarakSaltz: It was the 1st game in "Chess from Morphy to Botwinnik: a Century of Chess Evolution" (1951, New York City) by Imre König and also featured in "500 Master Games of Chess" (1952, London) by Tartakower and du Mont. Both books missed indicating 31. ... Qg8 as saving the game for ...

   Jan-23-22 J S Ryan vs J Congdon, 1880

BarakSaltz: Debut of 5. Bb5 move.

   Sep-10-21 Paulsen vs A Schwarz, 1879

BarakSaltz: In response to akiba82, Mackenzie vs G Hammond, 1864 could be useful to consider.

Apr-11-21 Sultan Khan vs Menchik, 1932 (replies)

BarakSaltz: 4. cxd5 looks sufficiently sound for it to seem odd that the current game is often indicated, per free online databases, to have introduced it as a novelty. Would anybody have a citation of an older game where the move was played?

   Oct-03-20 G Tringov vs J Rodriguez Cordoba, 1971

BarakSaltz: Trap #2 in William Lombardy's "Modern Chess Opening Traps" (1972)

   Oct-03-20 Ljubojevic vs K Honfi, 1970 (replies)

BarakSaltz: Trap #1 in Williams Lombardy's "Modern Chess Opening Traps" (1972).

Jun-07-17 Bird vs Chigorin, 1895 (replies)

BarakSaltz: 13. Nd5!! is impressive.
