IVAN SALGADO LOPEZ
(born Jun-29-1991, 32 years old) Spain

Grandmaster (2008), the first from Galicia in Spain. In 2003, he came second in the Spanish U14 championship, following up with a win in 2004, and 2nd in 2005 in the same event. In 2007, he won the Spanish U16 championship and in 2008 he won the Spanish U18 championship. In 2009, he came 2nd in the World U18 championship. Spanish Champion (2013 and 2017).

In 2008 he won the International Open at San Sebastian, in 2010 he won the IV Hotel Avenida de Canarias Open and in 2012 he won the IV Ibero-American Championship held in Quito in Ecuador.

Salgado's ninth placement in the European Individual Championship (2010) qualified him to participate in the World Cup (2011), where he was eliminated in the first round by Russian GM Ernesto Inarkiev.

Next year he will play the World Cup (only 64 players classify).

He was the first GM from Galicia (North West region from Spain) in 2008. World U18 vice champion 2009. Now he has reached 2600 ELO.
