AMEDEE GIBAUD
(born Mar-05-1885, died Aug-18-1957, 72 years old) France

[what is this?]

Amédée Gibaud was born in Rochefort sur Mer. He was French champion in 1928, 1930, 1935 and 1940, and won the French correspondence championship three times (1929, 1931, 1932), but is probably best known for what was considered the shortest game in master chess: A Gibaud vs F Lazard, 1924. The game was actually a free game and lasted a few moves longer.

Jan-13-09  WhiteRook48: I think the Gibaud-Lazard game never happened. It says he's champion of France 4 times. How likely is it that he's going to play 2. Nd2?! and 4. h3??
