Jun-25-06  wkargel: I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Blanco this past weekend at a small tournament in Atlanta. She was also an instructor at the Emory Castle Chess Camp in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago.

Based on the kibitzing comments here, I would have to concur that Ms. Blanco has gained a few pounds, but I don't feel that this is a big deal at all...she has not gained that much weight anyway, and (I might be in the minority here) think that it actually adds to her attractiveness...i.e. she is a bit curvier now.

I was planning on taking some photos of some of the top players in action over the board at the tournament (including Ms. Blanco), but I got so emroiled in my own pitched battles over the board that I just forgot to! Perhaps next time!

Ms. Blanco was very nice, and even helped analyize a number of games from the tournament. She in fact was even upset by a player with a much lower rating in the tournament, yet she took it in stride!

I was not able to find out if Ms. Blanco was staying in the USA for an extended period of time or not. Last thing I heard was that she was studying dentistry in Brazil? Perhaps she plans on practicing here in the USA? Regardless of where she ends up, I hope that she will continue to play chess competitavely!

Aug-26-06  wkargel: An update on Ms. appears that she is apparently going to stay in the USA for the forseeable future...furthermore, in addition to her Dentistry practice, she is working with my employer, Kid Chess here in Georgia!

I am looking forward to working with her, and perhaps a few friendly battles over the chess board as well!

Nov-20-07  SickedChess: <wkargel> do you have new pics of Carolina?
