Unfortunately, that is not the case. According to my sources this legendary chess journalist died in 1972. His son however -Evert Straat, born in 1952 - keeps up the family name. He does a lot of good work for the Max Euwe foundation in Amsterdam and has several chess publications on his name. Besides Straat jr. was quite a strong chessplayer in his younger years...
