PRONUNCIATION:

Dr József Szily was awarded the IM title at its inception in 1950 and played for Hungary in the 1952 Olympiad. In 1942, he took second, behind Gösta Danielsson, in Munich (1st European Championship – Europameisterschaft, Wertungsturnier – Qualification Tournament). After World War II, Dr Szily finished third at Budapest 1947.
