PRONUNCIATION:

IM and WGM Nana Mikhailovna Ioseliani was born in Tbilisi. She was awarded the WIM title in 1979 and the WGM title in 1980. She was European Junior Women's Champion in 1978 and 1979 and won the USSR Women's Championship in 1981 (jointly) and 1982. In the 1988 Candidates she tied with Elena Donaldson-Akhmilovskaya and won the subsequent play-off match (+1, 4=, -0) but then lost the World Title Match (+2, 11=, -3) to Maia Chiburdanidze.
