Tabanus: Constantin Haralds is a pseudonym.

There was a company around 1920 at Linnégatan 18, Göteborg, named "Constantin Harald", selling sanitary products. If that helps.

Jun-16-24  whiteshark: Chessbase players database says *1880 (age 134 today ;)) with 13 games https://players.chessbase.com/de/pl...

He finished 3rd (7/11 pt) at the 9th Nordic Chess Congress (1919), held in Gothenburg. https://tfsarkiv.schack.se/pdf/1919... It is also mentioned in the report, but I'm too tired to look it all up and translate it now.

game #3347 vs Ahlberg
game #3354 vs Löwenborg --> Constantin Haralds vs O Lowenborg, 1919 game #3364 vs Krenzisky
game #3369 vs Hakansson

<Tab> I wonder if you could really play a championship under a pseudonym back then, especially since it was in his hometown?

Tabanus: <whiteshark> No idea. Svenska Dagbladet 27 May 1924 p. 14 (lower left corner of https://tidningar.kb.se/2ldh8hld2sn...) has a bankrupcy note on

<merchant Gustaf Harald Constantin Johansson with company Constantin Haralds publisher, Haralds healthcare business & Gothenburg tech. wholesale company>, go figure :)

There is some more on this in the Swed. newspapers when they become online later this year.

Tabanus: Hmm, 1910 census Göteborg has a "Gustaf Harald Constantin" b. 1899, "not baptized by the Swedish church", living with Helga Maria Schöneman Andersson b. 1877, apparently his mother.

Tabanus: Here he is again in 1910, now as "Gustaf Harald Konstantin" (with K) and listed with his father:

Tabanus: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/folkrakn... = Hjalmar Larsson Haralds, the only "Haralds" I can find in the censuses.

He is here: https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hjalm...
