Nov-25-13  hyperactivemodernist: I've learned a lot from your videos and have been happily playing on www.chessworld.net for some years now. Thanks, Tryfon!
Nov-25-13  john barleycorn: Yes, <kingcrusher> your videos are very instructive and well made. However, it took me some time to find the "bee free" square and discover the "fret" :-). (English is my third language...)
Feb-26-14  john barleycorn: some praise from chess heaven:

  offramp: I'm a Londoner and I can't understand a word he's saying.
Feb-27-14  James Bowman: I love his annotated games and his accent only adds to it. E free instead of three is classic I say it no other way now ;0].

Tryfon keep up the great work.

Feb-27-14  James Bowman: BTW offramp I'm a Hoosier, well born in Chicago but I understand him with no problem.

You mean to say that it is not always an advantage to be a Londoner?

offramp: The ee free bee free thing is an affectation. It is used by very posh people with university educations to make it look as if they are street wise cockneys.

They are known as MOCKNEYS. You can look it up!

Feb-27-14  john barleycorn: <offramp> thanks. I read the wiki article and saw that Jamie Oliver is also among this group. Just asking myself what was harder, to become a mockney or a british chef?
Feb-27-14  MarkFinan: <offramp: I'm a Londoner and I can't understand a word he's saying.>

Well I'm from Yorkshire and I understand every word! And there are some really cruel comments on this page, especially about Aspergers Syndrome. I really, really like this guy and his videos, he contributes a lot to this game we all fell in love with, and he doesn't talk no BS (aka.. Goldsby!? ) And I like that he's just a normal average bloke that "Goes to the cinema on weekends" as opposed to playing in tournaments. He'd destroy every single one of us on this page in a game, yet still calls himself a bunny!

How can you not like that?

Even in the days when I averaged 150+ serious games per year, there was more to life than chess. Couldn't imagine holing up in a little room and doing nothing else.

Not so sure Tryfon would destroy me, though-beat several GMs at blitz during my career and gave lesser players all they could handle.

Chess can be very humbling indeed, which is why it amuses and annoys me when I see a lot of large talk on various pages to the effect that this or that 2700 grandmaster cannot play.

I agree with everything you just said Perf. And for the record I think you're a decent bloke, but you're forgetting that when you were actively playing in tournament chess that *I'm guessing* there was no internet, especially nothing like this century when top chess players (or some) do actually "hole up in a little room" and go through the latest theory on the KIA, etc etc etc. I think what I'm trying to say is that I like his personality, he comes across as a warm and friendly guy and a few years ago in my private messages with him he was very helpful with me. I know that if I played chess to his level and having the personality I have, I probably would isolate myself from my wife and family to do the things he *doesn't do*. I like that about him, I think he seems a nice guy, I respect him, and I don't know exactly what level you're at Perf, but I think this guy is pushing 2350 in your American money? And yeah I agree about people saying 2700 players can't play, but if it's the player and the page I think you're referring to then I think you should already know why people say that about that player.... His fanatical OTT countrymen, with crazy aquatic themed theories on the worlds best chess player!? 😃

AAnyway, it's nearly 8pm so I'm out of here for tonight. Good luck to whoever plays this "bunny!", because he'd completely destroy any of you.

Aug-11-14  just a kid: I don't know if anyone has seen it yet, but your YouTube channel is mentioned in the most recent Chess Life article as a good free chess resource. Glad to see one of my favorite commentators commended for their fine efforts!
Jun-26-16  ndg2: Thought KC was rated higher. He must be impatient or sloppy in conversion sometimes. His tactical vision is no doubt good.
Feb-21-18  FICSwoodpusher: 1. Nf3 f5 2. d3 Nc6 3. e4 e5 Any recommendation for white here?

I have tried 4. pxp but then 4. ... d5 seems to be good for black.

So far I see that 3. d4 and 4. Be2 are good options for white. 4. Nc3 also seems like a decent move.

Mar-31-18  ShaneLevene: Tryfon gets such a hard time in all comment sections and especially in live streams. I asked the other day why people dislike him so much and received answers from "He speaks too much crap" to someone saying he accused a GM of cheating (or some such story). But he seems like a really good and insightful man to me and I enjoy just listening to him - crap or not.

kingscrusher: <just a kid> Many thanks :) Yes the channel is going well with over 93k subscribers now :)
Sep-22-18  FICSwoodpusher: <kingscrusher> your recommendation is 1. Nf3 f5 2. d3 Nc6 3. e4 e5 4. d4 ... which is a sort of falkbeer (is that the one where black plays d5 in response to the kings gambit? not sure) countergambit with colours reversed.

What about 1. Nf3 f5 2. d3 Nc6 3. d4 ... and white omits e4. This should give a decent game for white since the black knight will not like facing the white d4 pawn and black has not yet played e5.

Check It Out: Happy birthday, <Kingscrusher>! Love your YouTube channel, and especially your tactical play and gambits. Its inspiring to a positional materialist to see the pieces flying around like that, seemingly without a care in the world.
