Many years considered the #3 player in Czechoslovakia, behind Pachman and Filip

2x Czechoslovak Champion:

1950, jointly with Filip, after they tied their playoff.

1960, after winning 2.5:0.5 playoff against Maxmilian Ujtelky.

4x played in Chess Olympiads; his best performance in Munich, 1958, placing 2nd behind Keres on the 3rd boards.
