Kibitzer's Corner
May-28-14  diagonal: Just six day after swiss fellow Nico Georgiadis made his first GM norm at the Dubai Open, Noël Studer achieved his first GM norm at the Neckar Open in the german Deizisau:

Viktor Laznicka won, Richard Rapport came in forth, Studer who sensationally beat the more than 300 Elo points higher rated Super-GM Naiditsch, suffered only one loss (against Sabino Brunello) and totalized 6.5 out of 9 points:

In Switzerland it's about a year's issue: <IM Nico Georgiadis>, <Noël Studer>, <Lars Rindlisbacher>, <Patrick Grandadam> (in absence of Russia, Armenia, Georgia and some other strong nations, they got the silver medal at the U-18 European Team Chess Championship 2013 in Maribor: and <Laura Störi> were all <born in 1996> and challenching each other who will be Switzerland's next (male / female) chess grandmaster..

time will tell :)

Penguincw: Congrats to IM Noel Studer for winning the 116th Swiss Championship. He finished with 6/9, finishing ahead of GM Sebastian Bogner on tiebreaks.

Unfortunately, since there were only players from 2 countries (Switzerland and Russia's Alexandra Kosteniuk), this performance will not be redeemable for a GM norm.

Jul-29-16  diagonal: Noël Studer beating Grandmaster Bogner at the Swiss Chess Championship 2016:

Excellent new homepage by Studer, a young and promising player on his road to the GM title:

Jul-24-17  BIDMONFA: Noel Studer

Jul-28-17  diagonal: Thanks, <BIDMONFA>! Noël Studer is Grandmaster (elect) after the Grenke Chess Open in Karlsruhe 2017:

Congratulations! Good luck at Biel GMT!

Interview at the last day of the Grenke Open in 2017, Noël Studer targeting his final gm norm, in english:

Mar-24-19  sonia91: He won the Accentus Young Masters:

<Noel Studer was born in 1996 and became the youngest grandmaster in Swiss chess history in 2017, at the age of 20.>

Mar-24-19  Count Wedgemore: Looking at his nerdy picture he doesn't look much of a studer to me.

  Dionysius1: You're going by <BIDMONFA>'s picture presumably, <Wedgie>.

Hard to know what a studer would look like. What is a studer anyway?

Premium Chessgames Member
Dionysius1: Incidentally, <BIDMONFA>'s website will have been going for 6000 days come Friday. Not sure how many cheers, but there it is.
Oct-18-21  JohnBoy: What, <Dion>, is a st-st-st-studer?
Premium Chessgames Member
  Dionysius1: Y-y-eah! Good one.
