Apr-04-08  Alphastar: Those are the only games I could retrieve from the tournament. (I scored 4 out of 9)
May-18-08  yxcvbnm: and how did you get <CG> to upload your games? i thougt that it´s neccesary for qualifiing a game to be uploaded, that at least one of the involved players is 2200+
May-18-08  brankat: <Alphastar> Congratulations for having Your own player's page!

Just like Dr.Lasker, Capablanca, Alekhine, Botvinnik, Tal, Fischer, Karpov, Kasparov :-)

May-21-08  Alphastar: <yxcvbnm: i thougt that it´s neccesary for qualifiing a game to be uploaded, that at least one of the involved players is 2200+>

I thought that too, but maybe I'll be 2200+ in a couple of years ;)

thanks <brankat> :)

Jun-20-08  Alphastar: I uploaded Y Visser vs J Weggen, 2008 , a (simul) game where I swindled a win from a GM :)
Jul-22-08  Alphastar: I'll play in the same event (open dutch youth championship) this year as well. It starts in 2 weeks. Maybe I'll have a shot at the title though I'll have to be lucky. Greater chance than last year though :)
Aug-11-08  Alphastar: Well, I hoped for a 5/9 score, but I had already achieved that after the 8th round, and in the last round I achieved a very nice win versus a 2283-rated kid, so I ended up with a 6/9 score to share 9th place with two others :) Winner(s) of the tournament scored 7/9. I was never really close to the top boards except in the last round; most of the time I hung around in the subtop and in the middle of the pack.

The last 5 rounds I scored 4 points out of 5 games though with a few nice high-rated wins. Strangely enough I scored 5 out of 5 games with the white pieces, even though most of my opening preparation was about my black openings. My TPR was 2109.

Aug-11-08  Twocolors: Well done kid! Good win against Lars.
Aug-11-08  hms123: <alphastar> Good job! It was fun to follow your progress in the tournament. Thanks for posting the official website in the W Paulsen vs Anderssen, 1878 game.
Aug-11-08  Alphastar: Thanks <Twocolors> and <hms123>

The win against Lars was very nice indeed :) I've uploaded all my games via the PGN upload utility so they should be here in a week.

Sep-24-08  Alphastar: Still not there :(
Nov-01-08  Alphastar: here they are.. have fun :)

Game Collection: open dutch youth championships 2008 Alphastar's

Jan-05-10  paavoh: @alphastar: Are you related to Rick Weggen, I think I played him in the IECG email CC tournaments a few years back?
Jan-05-10  Alphastar: <paavoh> Yes, he might be my dad
Jan-05-10  paavoh: Alphastar, thanks for info - a small world indeed! Say hi to him for me, please!
Jan-05-10  Alphastar: I will, but I don't know whether the name "paavoh" will mean anything to him!
Jan-12-10  paavoh: Oh sorry, check out: Paavo Honkakoski

My game against him not listed, though.

Jul-24-10  Benzol: We need to have a bio here.

:)

Aug-17-10  Alphastar: <Benzol> I agree - how do we do this? :P

Richard Taylor: Send CG.com your bio. Good win over the GM!
Dec-25-17  waustad: Both of his wins so far in the Groningen
Chess Festival are against the Lubbes, both of whom are higher rated. http://chess-results.com/tnr317124....
Dec-31-17  Alphastar: I had a pretty good tournament! Especially a good start. Though the win against IM Lubbe was basically a swindle. Also missed a clear win in round 5 against IM Stefan Kuipers, he won instead and eventually got shared 3rd place.

Ended with 4/9 but still a nice TPR of high 2200 because I faced a lot of strong opposition. And learned a lot from my games.

Dec-31-17  zanzibar: Fav picture?

Maybe this one?

.

Dec-31-17  Alphastar: That isn't me. There are some pictures on the website of the tournament though: https://www.flickr.com/photos/harry...

Jan-01-18  zanzibar: <Alphastar> a couple of good chessic poses. Any chance of getting one or the other over to <CG> for the profile?

(I have a preference for the 2nd one, as it's a clearer portrait)
