ajk68: I get the feeling Caruana really doesn't understand this opening (better than I do I'm sure, but the computer seems to think he made quite a number of mistakes).
Dec-21-21  DouglasGomes: I don't think he had ever spent much time looking up on this variation. It seems 11... f5 is too optimistic for a tempo down Philidor, but I don't what Black should do after allowing all the queenside expansion. Maybe playing with 4.. Bc5 and later d6 is more practical to get a confortable position. White is not worse regardless
Dec-21-21  SChesshevsky: Think Rapport cleverly skips the Petrov game and goes for an ...e5 Kings Indian Attack structure. Seems an opening a part of his serious rep.

Believe with ...e5, Caruana should be able to equalize the KIA fairly easily. Appears to be more aggressive for some reason. Wonder, was this an armageddon game?
