Sep-07-23  areknames: Interesting game. The champ quickly obtains a winning attack but can't capitalise and eventually gets murdered by Short's energetic counterattack. Not sure however if Lasker's tactics can be compared to sucker punching someone or carjacking an old lady. I will concede that Stourbridge is a smalll town.

  perfidious: From the bylaws of Stourbridge:

<Should thou drink the rum, thou shall keep thine wench>

Sep-07-23  Nosnibor: It looks like Lasker fell short of his usual standards in this game.

  Honza Cervenka: 20.d5 was a mistake. Instead of that Lasker should have played 20.Na7 with intention 20...Nxa1 21.dxc5 Rb8 22.c6 with double threat cxd7 and Qa5+.
Sep-07-23  Autoreparaturwerkbau: In the first 18 moves Lasker played like Lasker and gained an advantageous position. But then consecutive moves 19th and 20th changed the game flow completely:

- firstly, 19.Nc6+ holds the advantage but 19.Ra3 was much better;

- secondly, as <Honza> said, the crucial mistake was 20.d5? after which there is no proper recovery left. Lasker should have played 20.Na7 (also 20.Nxd8 is possible).

As others said, unusual things can happen at simuls.
