  HeMateMe: Remembering D. Freeman.

Same title as a Sherlock Holmes story, in which Holmes is long retired from work as a consulting detective, but is pressed back into service by a desperate King and country. In Holmes' greatest feat of deception he infiltrates a German spy ring in WWI, bringing them crashing down.

the story appears in a book with other selected stories from the Holmes lore.

fredthebear: A discovered double check for mate!! Chessgames.com co-founder Daniel Freeman went out on top, a winner.

It's a jazzed up Boden's Mate as well!!

Jul-24-19  Steve.Patzer: The Rook could have moved to any one of 8 squares to discover checkmate.
Jul-24-19  Parachessus: White's naïve 2. Qf3? made me laugh and how he continued to play idiotic moves all over the board.

Korora: I ran through Stockfish (on the 15-minute analysis) possibilities for 23. d3, preventing Black's Queen ♗ from swooping in for the mate, and this is what I got:

OhioChessFan: I thought about a pun for Daniel's last game and found Annie had beaten me to it by 2 years...I'll look some more.
