Oct-28-18  GlennOliver: Is this Gawain Jones's first victory against a (sometimes) 2800+ player?

A profitable venture outside fashionable opening theory, and well converted in the end game.

Nov-04-18  Saniyat24: English-man's Italian job...!
Nov-06-18  Nietzowitsch: <Is this Gawain Jones's first victory against a (sometimes) 2800+ player?> So Lemon Erronian strikes again!

Clement Fraud: I have been studying grandmaster games in the Giuoco Piano a lot lately, and this one is of particular interest (not least because it sees the great Aronian outplayed & beaten by Gawain Jones). Mr Jones's play appears to cast doubt (at least from where I'm sitting) on the soundness of 7... Ne4 : On e4 Aronian's Knight seemed stranded - and more of a liability than a threat. 18.Bxe4 is a lovely capture that leaves white with the Bishop pair and a blatantly superior game.

I'm wondering if 7... Ng8 might be a better try?
