Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-18-17  optimal play: 39...Bxg3?

The alternative 39...Kc7 is admittedly an awkward and uncomfortable move, keeping the king in the firing line to be used in support of a minor piece, but opting instead for the exchange of Queens ultimately led to defeat.

This game is from the 9th round of the 1969 Australian Championship (1968.12.27 to 1969.01.15) played in Melbourne on 7th January 1969.
