Honza Cervenka: 11...Bxa6 and 12...Re8 were better moves.
Jan-27-22  Brenin: If 16 ... Qd8, White has the choice of the prosaic 17 Nf7+ and 18 Nxd8, with mate to follow, or the prettier 17 Bg7+ Kxg7 18 Qf7+ Kh6 19 Qxh7+ Kxg5 20 Ne4+ Kg4 21 h3 mate

  MissScarlett: If <18...Bd8>, you mean...
Jan-27-22  Brenin: <MisssScarlett>: I meant to write 18 ... Qd8 rather than 16 ... Qd8, as an alternative to the move 18 ... d5 played, in order to avoid the mate by 19 Qf8+. Then White has the choice of mate by 19 Nf7+ or 19 Bg7+, etc. The moves I gave are right, the numbers are wrong. (It's way past my bedtime.)

HeMateMe: It's hard to compete with a whiskey themed pun...
Jan-27-22  SeanAzarin: Black may as well have given his QR, QN and QB as odds -- he never actually moved them.
Jan-27-22  nalinw: Good pun - Chess Under the Influence? How much of this is theory?
Jan-27-22  Ironmanth: Wow, pieces everywhere! Thanks, chessgames, for this one today.

ChessCoachClark: Nice to see a recent example of the Opera Mate. My students will love it because it has a different flavor of Queen sacrifice as well.
