Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-06-17  Sally Simpson: Bit of a strange oversight this one. White has just played 31.Qd2-c3 leaving the d8 Rook hanging.

He does pick up the e5 Knight with check but what ever White saw after that is a mystery. Possible no explanation. A simple 'it happens everyday' blunder.

Seems churlish in lieu of the fact White resigned but Lasker's motto about sitting on your hands if you see a good move may apply here.

31...Qxd8 good move.

31...Ne5 appears to be much better. It hits the Queen threatens Qxf2+ which mates and the d8 Rook is still under attack.

The obvious 32.Qc2 meets 32...Rxb2 and the roof is caving in.

Accademic? Yes! But as my friends will tell you (I still have a few) I've always had this necromantic habit of wringing out lost positions looking for 'other ways'.

Mar-22-17  pawndude88: 31.Qc3 Ne4 does seem worth exploring.
