Aug-09-14  luzhin: Crazy ending. White's 4 connected passed pawns must have been worth more than Black's extra piece, but it didn't work out that way. 54.Ke5? was the losing blunder, but it required brilliant play to prove it (53...Nxg6+! and 55...b4! leading to a win by one tempo only because Black queens with check on move 59.) A case of risk rewarded as Howell rejected draw by repetition when he played 19...Bh6!?
Aug-09-14  luzhin: Correction: the losing blunder of Ke5? was move 53.

  Eggman: Fascinating game.

Instead of 48.h7+ perhaps White should have tried 48.g7 ♗xg7 (48...♘xc3? 49.h7+) 49.♘e7+ ♔f7 50.hxg7 ♔xg7 51.♘d5, when he seems to be OK, for example 51...♘b3 52.f5 ♘c1 53.♔d4 a2 54.♗xa2 ♘xa2 55.♔xc4.
