HeMateMe: Old guys are Tuff. Fabio couldn't get his kingside attack up and running in time. I think it was lost for him when he allowed the pawn exchanges that kept the h file sealed off.
Dec-16-13  tivrfoa: What's the continuation after 8. ... fxe5?? thanks!

9. Qh5+ Ke7 10 Qh4+ Ke8 11 Qh5+ with a perpetual check.

Brave of Caruana to turn this down, but taking the knight was his best move.

As he tweeted after he was eliminated

<Fabiano Caruana ‏@FabianoCaruana 15 Dec

Missed a bunch of chances and got eliminated by Boris Gelfand in the QF match #londonchess. Now can enjoy some London touristing!>

Dec-24-13  tivrfoa: Thank <tamar>! So probably this was the second game and Gelfand tried to force the draw. Thank you.
Jan-07-14  MarkFinan: Some of the opening play here baffles me completely, but you have to love all those queen checks on the 7th rank. Brilliant play by... Boris Gelfand!
