Dec-03-13 | | Sokrates: Oops! The whole attack on c6 was rather naive and properly punished by Nepomniachtchi. Evidently 20.Re1 was terrible, but he was already lost. |
Dec-03-13 | | Moszkowski012273: Is it theory in this line to drop an exchange on move 12??? (12.Nb6...) I don't get it. |
Dec-04-13 | | Calar: <Moszkowski012273> 12.Nb6 axb6 and White lost a Knight. Black Knight protects Rook on a8. |
Dec-05-13 | | Moszkowski012273: Whoops! Apologies I meant 13.Nb6... |
Dec-05-13 | | Calar: I see no direct refutation, but after 13.Nb6 axb6 14.Qxa8 0-0 it seems to me that Black has enough compensation for an exchange - slightly better development, weak light squares around White King, stranded White Queen which will spend several tempos returning back into play and repaired pawn structure. Still, it might have been better than game continuation. However, both players probably saw it (Nepo after 12...Ne6 and Yilmaz when he decided not to play 13.Nb6) and both obviously thought Black is at least equality (and probably more) in this line. |

Nov-01-21 | | thegoldenband: In the spirit of recent palindromic GOTD titles: "Opening Is Error. Resign! - I. Nepo" |

 | | Check It Out: Nice one |
May-16-22 | | Brenin: Good pun! <Moszkowski012273, Calar>: I think that after 13 Nb6 axb6 14 Qxa8 b5 (denying the White Q an escape via a4), Black has a definite advantage, e.g. 15 Qa5 Bd8, or 15 Be3 0-0 followed by f5 and f4. |
May-16-22 | | areknames: Absolutely brilliant pun - I have a soft spot for palindromes - and very enjoyable and instructive game. |
May-16-22 | | ndg2: Whoa, this pun could be straight out of TENET ! |
May-16-22 | | BxChess: What a great pun. |

 | | noads4me: That palindrome must have taken a while to come up with.! |

May-16-22
 | | OhioChessFan: Very nice palindrome. |
May-16-22 | | Honey Blend: 16. ♘e4 ♖xb2 17. ♖fc1 ♖xe2 18. ♘xc6 looks more favorable for White at the cost of a pawn. |
May-16-22 | | nalinw: I also love palindromes ..... anyone keeping a collection of such GOTDs? |
May-16-22 | | Amarande: Yep 20 Re1 was pretty much the lemon.
Took me a moment to see it, I was thinking "wait, isn't he only down a pawn? And at that, a backward pawn which he can blockade right away?" ... then I saw the Rook ... |
May-16-22 | | Cheapo by the Dozen: Nice touch that the palindrome was used on a game with a "symmetric" opening. |
May-16-22 | | Brenin: If, at the end, White decides to sane the N with 21 Nc4 or Nb3, then Black has a nice mating attack starting with 21 ... Qxe1+ 22 Kg2 Bh3+ 23 Kxh3 (23 Kf3 Qh1 mate) Qf1+ 24 Kg4 (24 Kh4 f5+ 25 Kh5 Rh6 mate) h5+ 25 Kf5 Qh3+ 26 Ke4 Qg4+. The rest is left to the reader as an exercise. |

 | | Teyss: <thegoldenband> Great one, bravo. Puns are getting much better recently. Hem, well. <nalinw: I also love palindromes ..... anyone keeping a collection of such GOTDs?> Didn't find anything, could just remember this one: Giri vs Carlsen, 2019 <ndg2: Whoa, this pun could be straight out of TENET !> The only difference is we can actually understand the pun. |
May-16-22 | | goodevans: Oh, I hate it so when the game is decided by an obvious and monumental blunder. Great pun though. <<ndg2: Whoa, this pun could be straight out of TENET !> The only difference is we can actually understand the pun.> So true! Christopher Nolan really lost the plot with that one, quite literally. |

May-16-22 | | chesssantosh: Amazing pun. Incredible. |
May-16-22 | | spingo: <chesssantosh: Amazing pun. Incredible.> I think you are the only one that thinks it is "amazing...incredible". |

May-16-22 | | GlennOliver: Well done thegoldenband for that palindrome. |

May-16-22 | | Knightmare07: Incredible palindrome, this made my day :) |
