Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-16-13  Fish55: Why did Onischuk so quickly agree to a draw that eliminates him?
Aug-16-13  csmath: Because 21. ... Nd6 freezes the position on the queenside.

He could try to start moving three pawns in front of his king but that would be more amateur style than a GM and he would get his behind kicked.

I do not see any reasonable way to continue to play, certainly not against a guy like Dominguez although perhaps he should have tried to "manouvre" few moves more. Onischuk does draw when the draw is there so this is not out of his character.

Aug-16-13  Fish55: A draw makes sense in a normal situation, but here I think white needs to try something unreasonable, even if the chance of losing is high.
Aug-16-13  csmath: Well, Alexander Onischuk is simply not that kind of guy. He is well rounded, solid, and very well educated and prepared player. That is just the way it is and he is not going to change.

If you play positional style Ruy Lopez (I do not) then he would be the guy whose games one would analyze. For him to play "crazy" attacks would be completely out of character.
