Sep-01-12  rilkefan: Lots of fun tactics.
Sep-04-12  marljivi: In case of 10.Nf6Bf6! 11.Bf8Bf3! 12.gf3...(12.Bh6?Bg2 13.Rg1Nd4 14.0-0-0Nf3 15.Qe3Bd4! 16.Qf4Ng1 17.Rg1Bh3 )12...Nd4! 13.0-0-0Nf3!? (13...Qf8!?) 14.Qe2Bg5 15.Kb1Nd4 16.Qg4Ne6 17.h4h5 18.Qe2Bf4 19.Be7Qe7 blacks position seems rather solid to me.

10...ef6(?!) looks somehow inferior: 11.c3f5 (11...d5 12.0-0-0 with the edge for white.)12.ef5Bf3 13.gf3Qh4!? (Or 13...Re8 14.Be3 ,but certainly not 13...Bh6? 14.Qh6Re8 15.Kd2Qf6 16.h4!Ne7 17.h5!...(17.fg6?!Ng6! is not so clear.)17...Nf5 18.Bf5Qf5 19.hg6fg6 20.Qh7Kf8 21.Qh8Ke7 22.Rh7Ke6 23.Re1Kd5 24.Re8 .) 14.Be3 and whites position is slightly better.

And in case of 10.Bg7...(That's actually the way the game continoued.)10...Kg7 11.Nf6 black has 11...Bf3 12.gf3ef6 13.h4h5! with good game.

Actually, the move 9.Nd5 is theoretical novelty. (Previously played moves were 9.Bg7,9.d5,9.h3,9.a4,etc.)

Sep-05-12  Nf3em: Hmmmm nice to see a Pirc game in this Olympiad ;-)
Sep-05-12  SuperPatzer77: Way to go, Alexander Grischuk!!

Pirc Defense is brilliantly played by Alex Grischuk! I'm so scared of using Pirc Defense if I'm on the side of Black. Pirc Defense is too risky for Black but Alex Grischuk has played the Pirc Defense beautifully.

We've gotta tip our cap off to Alex Grischuk of Russia!!
