Apr-25-12  Ulhumbrus: 23...Bd7 obstructs the d file and so prevents the check Rd8+ in reply to the rook advance ...Rh5 attacking White's bishop on g5
Apr-25-12  AgentRgent: <Pawnsgambit> These games are rated.
Apr-25-12  Strongest Force: If Kramnik equals classic music. I will embrace hipity hop...more violent than hip hop
Apr-25-12  jhelix70: <Strongest Force: Somebody gotta do something about the Berlin>

<talisman: time for the Ronald Reagan Attack for the Berlin Defence>

After 3. ... Nf6 white should launch a cruise missile with 4. d4 !

Apr-25-12  Fanques Fair: White´s knight is heading for the e4 square, from where it´s very dominant, it´s now clearer that White has an edge ...
Apr-25-12  AgentRgent: <Fanques Fair> I don't think a white knight on e4 really "dominates" anything...
Apr-25-12  twinlark: Black's LSB has e4 covered. Black looks better.
Apr-25-12  twinlark: Drawn.

tamar: The good news is that we will see rapid.

The bad news is that there is no guarantee it won't be another Berlin.

plang: <I think these games are not rated as it says Friendly games.>

I assume the games are rated - the "friendly" refers to the fact that there is nothing related to the WC on the line - it is not a qualification match - it is an exhibition match.

Apr-25-12  waustad: When will the rapid game start?

LoveThatJoker: <Strongest Force: I know this will hurt some of you but watching Kramnik play is like watching paint dry.>

So that's what you spend your time on! Maybe you should spend more time studying Chess, then watching paint dry, in order to gain a better appreciation for the game and its Champions.

HeMateMe: I think they should have kept playing. The pawn situation isn't completely resolved. One player could still get an advantage.
Apr-25-12  Funicular: @ <waustad>

Thu. April 26: Rest Day
Fri. April 27: 15:00 Round 5
Sat. April 28: 13:00 Round 6

Apr-25-12  Ulhumbrus: One resource for White - if Black allows it - consists of the manoeuvre Rd1-e1-e4 followed by Ne3 when on ....Nxe3 Kxe3 White's bishop and rook overpower the h4 pawn. Black may however play ...Bc6, keeping White's rook out of the square e4, and so not allow it.
Apr-25-12  waustad: The rapid game will begin at 11:00 am EDT.
Apr-25-12  boz: In rapid events even the Berlin can lead to decisive results, including a victory for Black, as these games from 2011 Amber show:

Anand vs Topalov, 2011

Karjakin vs Kramnik, 2011

V Gashimov vs Aronian, 2011

Apr-25-12  isildur: levon you must win! you can more.....

kbob: A little help, please. Why does white play an early h3 in these lines?
Apr-26-12  SimonWebbsTiger: @<kbob>

White is preparing g2-g4, but the move is also useful even if white doesn't play that because it stops a possible ...Bg4

It also explains why black often plays ...h7-h5 in these lines these days.

Apr-26-12  rapidcitychess: I can only imagine how frustrated Levon is getting.
