Nov-07-11  luzhin: 35.Qxe8!! Rxe8 36.Nxf6 would have been checkmate. The good player is always lucky...
Nov-07-11  Shams: <luzhin> Nice find! Can't believe Aronian allowed a mate in two and Hansen missed it.
Nov-07-11  SimonWebbsTiger: the score is incorrect. According to a very reliable source (white!):

35.Qxe8 wasn't possible because 34.Rg1 had been played. The last moves were 34.Rg1 Rg7 35.Qh5 Nf7 36.g6+ Kh8 37.gxf7 Qxe3 38.fxe8Q??? (38.Ng5! or 38.Rg6! are 1-0) 38...Qh3+ 39.Rh2 Rxg1+ 0-1.

Nov-07-11  freakclub: Chessgames should have checked the score first before posting it.
Nov-07-11  Shams: <freakclub> Actually I think there is a "sandbox" of sorts coming down the pike, a staging area where some of the site's more dedicated members can vet incoming game scores for mistakes before their respective game pages go live. As you know, with the DGT boards now widespread, game score errors are legion. The site admins have a lot else to handle, in the interim.

Shall we put you down for sandbox duty? Major social cred, I'm telling ya. =)

Amazing that Hansen and Aronian *both* missed this tactical sequence.

keypusher: As already noted, 35.Qxe8 was unplayable.

But the score is incomplete. In the final position, 38.Ng5 (or 38.Rg6) wins. Unfortunately, White played 38.fxe8/Q?? and had to resign after 38.Qh3+ 39.Rh2 Rxg1+, with Qf1# next.

moronovich: Next day Aronian said to Hansen, who had a winning position at a time : "You will hate me for the rest of your life, for this" (swindle) (Said with his typical smile)."No, I´ll hate my self", Hansen replied.
