Black replans: How can I get my Q onto that diagonal? And ... <19..Qd7>.

<20.Qc3> was almost a nice triple-fork: f6, Bc5, a5. Except that Black's "defense" <20..Qc6> is what he wants to do anyways.

From Black's perspective, he had three pawns in the way: c6, d5, and (the tempo to drop) a5. They get out of the way.

I guess "abrupt" in the sense that Black never really expected to win material. He was just hoping to force Kg2, bogging down White's K-side attack :)
