perfidious: White's practical results after 9.Nb5 have been disastrous, so 9.Qe1, as played in the following game, may be an improvement: V Gashimov vs Ivanchuk, 2011.

At first glance, Black appears to get a lot of play for the sacrifice, and I'd have to analyse fairly deeply before playing to win the rook at a8; something doesn't feel right about it.

Aug-26-11  Psihadal: What a crazy game!

Very entertaining.

Aug-28-11  beenthere240: It reminds me vaguely of the sacrificial line in the Vienna (with Qh5 -- often called the Dracula variation) Taking the rook invites a nasty counter attack.
