Mar-28-11 | | beenthere240: That was pretty brutal. I got the feeling that Judith was working off anger from losing the day before. Sacrificing the exchange on move 11 didn't show a whole lotta respect. |
Mar-28-11 | | beenthere240: Also 30....Dd7! is a problem-like move since the natural instinct is always to move toward the enemy. But dropping back to hava a clear shot at the a4 square was really pretty. |
Mar-28-11 | | luzhin: There are two amazing moves in this game. Judit would have stood very well after 13...Qc6 but instead raised the stakes to a whole rook with 13...Nd3+!?. Then, still a piece down, she plays the fabulously calm 25...h6!! which not only gives her King luft but also tempts White into the blunder 26.Qf3 after which 26...Rb1! is lethal. |
Mar-28-11 | | ajile: What's the point of 31..e3?
Why not play 31..Qa4+ immediately? |
Mar-28-11 | | luzhin: After 31...Qa4+ 32.Nb3 cxb3?? White can deliver perpetual check starting with 33.Qf5+. The point of 31...e3 is to cover the f5 square with her Bishop. |
Mar-28-11 | | cadwallon: <ajile: What's the point of 31..e3? > To prevent Qf5+ with perpetual check, I think. |
Mar-28-11 | | hellopolgar: <What's the point of 31..e3?
Why not play 31..Qa4+ immediately?>
because it allows black's light bishop to guard his own king, as <cadwallon> pointed out, it's basically saying "no draw for you!" |
Mar-28-11 | | ajile: Wow nice I didn't see that. Good finesse move that seals White's fate. |
Mar-28-11 | | chillowack: <as <cadwallon> pointed out>
luzhin pointed it out first (and gave a variation).
Amazing game by Judit--maybe one of her most exciting attacking games ever, which is really saying something considering she's one of the most exciting players of all time. |
Mar-28-11 | | engineerX: 13...Nd3+! and then she plays the whole game with a rook less. And white looks completely tied up! An excellent game. |

 | | HeMateMe: This was nasty. Poor guy must have felt like the weakie at the chess club... |
Mar-30-11 | | sevenseaman: A clever game from Judit. Sharp of <cadwell> to point out the reason but how very fortunate for all of us that <ajile> popped a hot question. |
Mar-30-11 | | TrollKing: What a beating. Judit can really light up the board when she is 'on'. |

Mar-31-11 | | Jazzer32: amazing game |
Apr-01-11 | | Wild Bill: The real beauty of the sacrifice <11...b5!!> is that it set up the same strategem that Judit used in her game against Timman in Malmo, 2000. See Timman vs Judit Polgar, 2000 . She proceeded to win by fighting on the long diagonal against an abandoned fianchettoed Bishop nest. |
Jun-01-11
 | | Fusilli: Nothing short of spectacular. |
Jul-11-11 | | Blunderdome: <ajile> If you see this, 31...Qa4+ 32. Nb3 e3 also wins, so that move order is fine...but e3 to prevent the checks is key, 32...cxb3? throws away the win. |
Aug-12-11 | | hellopolgar: Judit Polgar interview:
<Did you expect the excellent score in the European Championship? Did you feel that you had it coming?> <No, but I never felt like that in my life. Obviously it was very nice, especially the second half of the event and my game against Pantsulaia in round seven in particular. Clearly, the work I’ve done in the last one and a half years paid off.> |

Dec-24-11 | | PSC: This game has been judged the best of 2011 according to Informant. I posted Polgar's annotations here: http://patzerseescheck.blogspot.com... |
Dec-24-11 | | King Death: <ajile: What's the point of 31..e3? ..> For about a seoond I wondered why too. Then I looked at the board and noticed the perpetual if Polgar plays the same line as the game. Brilliant game. |
