Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-14-11  Skakalec: Nimtzowitsch in a nutshell.
Feb-14-11  okba12: why white is loosing?-what was the immediate threat?
Feb-14-11  fisayo123: Why use the word <loosing>?
Feb-14-11  goodevans: <okba12: why white is loosing?> (sic)

White is <losing> because his army is completely impotent. Not exactly zugzwang but he has no active possibilities.

Meanwhile black can continue as quickly or slowly as he chooses. The most obvious plan is to push the K-side pawns, but he's in complete control and could choose to win another way if he wants.

Feb-14-11  Shams: A coming ...h5-h4 will isolate a kingside pawn. After a subsequent ...Rf6+ white loses either that pawn or the e-pawn.
Feb-14-11  th3doctor: GM Caruana on the final position (from Chessbomb):

"This is the most hopeless position imaginable. Black doesn't even have to think to win. White can only move back and forth until his kingside is torn apart"

Feb-14-11  27xx: Game of the day!

Penguincw: White is sort of in zugzwang.
Feb-14-11  ooda: I don't really like the comparison with zugzwang when it should just be called a bind I think.
Premium Chessgames Member
Richard Taylor: White is pretty zugged out...
Feb-15-11  Hovik2009: the obvious case of strangulation!
Feb-15-11  lostgalaxy: Congrat Le!

But I can't imagine a GM made so many positional suicidal moves like White.

c5, cxd and allow Nxe3

Le must own some magics.

kingfu: I hate it when my wang gets zugz.

  HeMateMe: No Wang Fun 2Nite?
Feb-15-11  haydn20: I am deeply ashamed for laughing myself silly at HeMateMe's comment. As for the game, isn't White sort of asking for it with the passive 6. d3?

  kingfu: Everybody wang chung tonight!
