Domdaniel: A nice finish by Adams - but were moves 23 and 24 really played?

On move 23, Adams has 23.Nc6 with advantage, exactly as played a couple of moves later here. It's hard to believe that he not only missed this, but offered a dubious-looking exchange sac instead. After 23.Bf4 Bxc4 seems to be quite playable for Black.

Instead both players return their Bishops to their former positions, and Adams plays the winning line 2nd time round. Perplexing.

Domdaniel: Yep, it's a strange one. I can see why Monroy might hope for a repetition against a player rated 300 points higher, even at the cost of refusing the Rook offer. But unclear Exchange sacs aren't the Adams style at all, especially when he has better moves available.
Feb-21-11  ReikiMaster: 19...dxc4 looks ok.
Aug-22-15  whiteshark: I'd also guess that Adams played immediately <23.Nc6>
