Jan-07-11  ReikiMaster: 22...Kb8 looks ok. Now white's bold pawn sac paid off.
Mar-13-22  Brenin: <Reikimaster>:I think you mean 23 ... Kb8. Since 24 Qa8+ Kc7 25 Rxb7+ was threatened, what alternative do you suggest? If 23 ... Qc7 then 24 Qxe6+ is very strong. Similarly, if 23 ... b6 then 24 Qa8+ Kc7 25 Qa7+ Kd6 (Kc8 26 Ba6+) 26 Rxb6+ is lethal. I think Black was already lost by this point.
Mar-13-22  GerMalaz: 22...Kb8 23.Be4 looks quite dangerous.
Mar-13-22  goodevans: Black played <18...a5> to try to stop <19.b4> but it just ended up making that move a darn sight stronger.

Fairly decent game but I don't think much of the pun since there's only one 'Ruan' and absolutely no 'race' whatsoever. Still, better to have it that way around than the other.

MissScarlett: Any thoughts on the song?
Mar-13-22  goodevans: Not my cup of tea. Had to look it up this morning. I did recognise it when I heard it but already I can't remember how it goes. I'm glad about that because there was a risk it might become today's earworm.
Mar-13-22  boz: 18 ...a5 looks like a very bad move since it doesn't prevent 19.b4 at all. In fact it makes b4 even better.
Mar-13-22  goodevans: Is there an echo in here?
Mar-13-22  whiteshark: We’re laughing in an echo chamber: it’s time to rethink <chessgame.com>

Teyss: 18...a5 intended to prevent 19.b4 but it only makes it stronger.
... makes it stronger.
