Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-06-10  luzhin: 18.d5!! is a fantastic move, transforming Shirov's walled-in black-squared bishop into a fire-breathing dragon. If Giri had played 22...Bxh6 then 23.Qe6+ Kh8 24.Rxf8+ Qxf8 25.Nf7+ Kg8 26.Nxh6+ Kh8 27.Nf7+ Kg8 28.Nd6+ Kh8 29.Nxc8 Nxc3 30.Qd6! Qxd6 31.Rxd6 is a clean kill.
Nov-06-10  Gilmoy: <luzhin: 18.d5!!> instantly reminded me of Larsen's <31.Nxe6> in Larsen vs A Matanovic, 1965, also a clearance sac to open a B(b2,c3) to g7. They both follow up with a <Nh6+>, and overload Black's flat back rank. Must be something in the position!
Nov-06-10  Squares: Jeez, 18.d5 is a fantastic move , too good for me to understand. Please could someone annotate the repurcussions of simply taking the pawn immediately , say Bxd4. Patzer move I am sure, but anything insightful would be most interesting.
Nov-09-10  ReikiMaster: 19...Bxd5 20.Nh5 g6 looks good for black. 20...Bc5 21.Nxe4 fxe4 22.Qe6+ looks dangerous but giving up f5 turned out even worse.
Nov-13-10  SharpAttack: So much for Anish Giri's attitude problem. I love the guy but when he was commenting on the games of the Anand-Topalov WCC match, he was talking as if he was superior to them or at least equal. Well, boy, you are a great player but you have a long way to go before you can comment on Anand's or Topa's moves like that!

More importantly, great game by Shirov!!

Nov-29-10  delftfan: @SharpAttack
Even you can comment on Anand's game as you like (just like you are commenting on Giri's attitude problem..do you really know him?)...I don't see anything like that in his comments, and I presume, Anand himself does not think like that, otherwise he wouldn't have invited him!

No doubt, a nice game by Shirov...
