OBIT: It's amusing how 14. Bg5 saves the queen but costs White the king.

Clearly, 5. Qb5+ only promotes Black's development, when 5. Nc3 Be7 6. Nxe4 Nxd5 leaves White a pawn up with a reasonably healthy position. Also worth noting is another postal game played by Eliskases at the same time (this one didn't turn out so well for him):

GrahamClayton: White is punished for his Queen excursions with 5.♕b5+, 7.♕e5+ and 9.♕f4.
Jan-21-12  Tired Tim: 16 ...? Monday puzzle
Oct-13-14  rogl: Actually, white DID go for development in this game. Unfortunately for him, it was black's development.
Apr-08-21  magic1949: 8. Nd4 with the idea Nf5 makes more sense of the White opening. Black can stop that with g6 or Qd7 and keeps a small advantage but its playable for White.

In the game 12...f5 was crushing but White was lost anyway After 12...Ne5 White could last a bit longer with 13.Qd1.
