Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-29-10  Nightsurfer: In the end of this match His White Majesty Himself enforces the decision. After that match I had felt a little bit proud of that - admittedly - modest version of a King's Walk, at a phase of the match when some pieces had still been around there. But of course I do not want to compare that more or less relaxed stroll by my White King to the courageous foray by White LION HEART King in >> Daniel Freeman vs Laufer <<, Ft. Lauderdale 1993, please check out the link www dot chessgames dot com slash perl slash chessgame ? gid=1249501 ... The latter is a different class, no doubt about that!
Apr-11-10  Nightsurfer: Sorry, I failed to type in the direct link to >>Daniel Freeman vs Laufer<< correctly, here it is now: D Freeman vs Laufer, 1993 !
Jul-26-11  Nightsurfer: Instead of 13.f4 ... , White has taken to the treacherous alternative 13.Bb2 ... some monthes later during the Haifa Olympiad 1976 in Israel: F Kuijpers vs Schneider, 1976 - and 13.Bb2 ... has worked as well, of course.
Jul-26-11  Nightsurfer: It seems as if 15. ... Kd7 has been the fatal error by Black - since thus the King now his own Bishop. After 15.Nc7+ ... , Black King should have moved to d8, no doubt about that.
Aug-11-11  Nightsurfer: Instead of simulating power play, with 15. ... Kd7? after 15. Nc7+ ... - thus hastily proceeding to the 7th lateral in order to attack the cocky White Knight but whilst overlooking that 15. ... Kd7? blocks the outlook of Black Bishop on c8 - , Black King should have opted for attacking White Knight whilst alertly remaining on the 8th lateral: 15. ... Kd8! The latter move has been put on the board eight years before <R Gralla vs D Steinwender, Elmshorn 1975 > and some hundred miles down south in sunny Italy: R Primavera vs F Palmiotto, 1967
Aug-11-11  Nightsurfer: The modest move 13.f4 ... is the key, after 12. ... Qxe5, as it has been played here in <R Gralla vs D Steinwender, Elmshorn 1975 >, and as it has been executed 8 years before in R Primavera vs F Palmiotto, 1967 .

Whereas 13.Bb2 ... - that has been tried in F Kuijpers vs Schneider, 1976 - looks good, for sure, but is less effective (though it has worked in the end in F Kuijpers vs Schneider, 1976 too).

Mar-22-12  Nightsurfer: This game here <R Gralla vs D Steinwender, Elmshorn 1975> has been an inducement on the side of <Dieter Steinwender>, namely an inducement to do better. Therefore it has been no surprise that <Dieter Steinwender> has won the Championship of the ELMSHORNER SC in 1977 (the source: http://Elmshorner-Schachclub.de/nod...), just two years after this game here <R Gralla vs D Steinwender, Elmshorn 1975>.
