Jan-19-10  Gilmoy: <16.d4!> creates a charming picture. Tactically, White offers an exchange for two tempi to create a protected passed d-pawn, plus the long diagonal. More importantly, it snuffs Black's annoying blockade-expansion counterplay with c5, f5, Qh4-Ng3, Bd4+, etc. Black settles for the material, and never regains the initiative.
