Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-31-09  ROADDOG: The world champ seems to have knocked some of the rust off in this game.
Jul-31-09  chessic eric: 18.Nd5 seems too clever - like the kind of thing i try in blitz because i can, not because it's good. I'd be interested to see how the machines evaluate this after 18...Bf8!

The way Anand keeps b3 in place after 36...axb3+ to restrict white's king while going after the kingside is instructive.

Aug-02-09  A Karpov Fan: According to Fritz 11 10...dxc4 was a novelty, with 10...Ne7-c6 played previosly.

Not sure if that is right, I might have to check Megabase later.

Fritz says 13 Nc3 lost the advantage for White and likes 13. Bxc6+ bxc6 14. Qa4 O-O = better

18. Nd5 really stands out, and it seems not so bad after all, but Black is already ahead at this stage.

A fun line is 39.Rxh7?? Ba3! with a mating net.

A very nice game by the World Champ.
