Kibitzer's Corner
May-23-09  FiLiPiNoV: Wesley is a Superchess Player but he ain't Superman. Here simply illustrates how to defeat a player like So.
May-25-09  shintaro go: Wesley just sacrificed too many pawns early in the game. This proved to be too costly for him in the end. A lesson he will definitely take to heart. <Here simply illustrates how to defeat a player like So.> Wesley has been reckless in attacking at times, but he usually gets away with it with his tremendous skill. However, this time, the Vietnamese got the better of him.
May-25-09  Manuel G. Vergara: Every Asian Chess GM wants to play and win against GM Wesley So because his popularity is so immense that these wannabes should be remembered just to have drawn a game or two against this Wunderkind of Philippine Chess. In the Final Analysis, GM So will of course reach the Candidates Matches the soonest time than we all possibly thought about it.
May-26-09  SugarDom: Before this game, I already ask BW to offer prayers, coz i know GM Le and and i knew WES is going to have a tough time...

We were also having squabbles in BW at that time...

When I checked in WS page just after the opening, i saw right away the WES was in a very dangerous position...

Perhaps WES thought he was still playing in the ICC?

Joke. :)
..

May-29-09  Vasilyev90: Well done GM Le!He totally outplayed GM So outright in the opening stage and later in the whole game thus earning the Vietnamese a berth in World Cup.
Aug-07-09  bakit: in a corus interview, wesley said he would take risks, even give up a pawn, to generate attacking positions. in this game, pawns. the same is true with his game against ye shaoteng. he tried to complicate the position. this is because wesley wants to win his games. but it didnot workout for him. no problem. it goes with the equation. but the endgames of both games showed wesley was still trying to win. you have to give him an a for his courage and effort. and that is all we can ask from him.
Nov-26-09  mod777: nice game
May-12-15  penismightier: This game is the equivalent of Fischer vs Keres, 1959, wherein the young Fischer cried after losing. This loss delayed GM So's qualification to the world cup, which he would get through the Zonal event in Vietnam on July 2009. He would go on to win against Guseinov, Ivanchuk, and Kamsky and get the chess world's notice.
May-12-15  torrefan: mplying that one of these players will also get mad like fischer?
May-12-15  Pulo y Gata: Le Quang is humble and soft-spoken, so I doubt it.
