Apr-25-08 | | popski: Final position is tricky:
37...♔h7 38.♕xa8 ♖xa8 39. ♖f7! ♖d8 40.♖xd7 ♖xd7 41.♘xf8+ ♔g8 42.♘xd7 |

Apr-25-08 | | KarAkter: In my opinion 9...c6 is suspicious.9...c5 is more active,for example:10.d5 Qc7(d6,ed5 and Qb8 is played before) 11.Nf3 Ne4 12.Lf4(or 12.Nc3 f5)Qb7 13.Nc3 f5 and black is good |
|
Apr-26-08 | | ketchuplover: I think 18...Nxe5 was worth a look |
|
Apr-29-08 | | KarAkter: About 18...Ne5?!.After simple 19.de5 i didn“t find any good variation for black.What is idea of Ne5? |

 | | chancho: Carlsen had been getting the better of Shak in previous games, so this must have been a most satisfying win. |

Jun-24-08 | | notyetagm: One of Mamedyarov's best games.
Go Shak!

Mar-11-09 | | dumbgai: Rybka analysis shows that Mamedyarov clearly cheated in this game. |
|
Sep-11-09 | | VishyAnandFan: the piece sac was very impressive, shakhriyar shows what is possible in attack. he sacrifices positionally only to finish tactically, it reminds me of tal |

Mar-24-11 | | Garech: Awesome play from Mamedyarov - my money is on him making the finals of the candidate's tournament. -Garech |

 | | ToTheDeath: Great piece sac! Shak must have seen he'd get several pawns and a serious initiative even if he didn't see it all the way through. |

It seems games won't end that fast after Bxa3? Please analyze this... > that needs no real analysis..
if 39...Bxa3? simply 40.bxa wins outright.
black has 3 options:
1) protect the knight..
if either 40...Rd8 or 40...Ra7 then
white captures RxN RxR and Nf8+ forks, as pointed out by popski. 2) move the knight..
if 40...Nb8 41. Rf8 mates in the corner, and with 40...Nb6 white simply pushes the pawn 41. e6 Re8 42. e7 Nd7 43. Rf8 Nxf8 44. exf8=Q Rxf8 45. Nxf8 3) sac the knight
if Rxa3 41. Rxd7 and now ..Ra8 (forced since white will play Rd8 and mate in the corner) and there follows 42. e6 Rb8 43. e7 b4 44. Rd8 OR if white gets annoyed that black won't resign, and has time on the clock, he could play silly and make a laughing stock of black with 42. Rb7 Kg8 43. e6 Re8 44. d5 b4 45. Rxb4 Kh7 46. e7 Kg8 47. Rf4 Kh7 48. d6 Kg8 49. d7 Kh7 50. Nf8+ Rxf8 51. exf8=N+ Kg8 52. Ng6 Kh7 53. Kh3 Kg8 54. Rf8+ Kh7 55. Rh8# |

There are 12 of his games in the database
of which he won 8, 7 as white 1 as black.
