Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-25-07  Eyal: 39.Qc3?? loses the game (38.dxe5 wasn't a good idea either, but white was obviously thinking of Qc3 when he made that move). Actually, Adly already made a bad mistake a few moves earlier with 30.Bxe5 instead of dxe5, which Kamsky could have exploited either by 31...Bd3! 32.Qxd3 (32.Rd1 Nxe3!) Nb4 trapping the white queen (30.dxe5 would have cleared the d4 square); or by 33...Ne1! (34.Qf2 Bd3 35.Bxd3 Nxf3+ 36.Kg2 Ne1+ followed by Nxd3), which in case of 30.dxe5 could have been prevented by 33.Ba5!
Nov-26-07  dramas79: This is 48 Qf1 mate.
Dec-03-07  IMDONE4: Slightly classless by Adly, why would u play on when checkmate is unavoidable with 45...g6 against Kamsky?

Mateo: <Eyal> <Actually, Adly already made a bad mistake a few moves earlier with 30.Bxe5 instead of dxe5!> I am not sure. White loses after both moves. If 30.dxe5 Qa3. White just loses a pawn. If 31.B(b)d6 Nd4!. I think Adly went wrong with 29.Ne5?
Dec-10-07  Eyal: <Mateo> Yes, you're right - 30.dxe5 seems only to lose more slowly than 30.Bxe5 in this line. But what should White play, then, after 28...Ra2? There's an immediate threat of Nxd4, and his position looks very unpleasant. 29.Be5 allows 29...Bd8, aiming for a5; if 29.Rd1 then 29...Qb3 renews the threat of Nxd4 (adding the one of Nxe3), and Black's pressure keeps increasing.

Mateo: <Eyal> You should be right. 29.Rd1 Qb3 30.Rc1 Be4, White loses material.

If 29.Ne1 Nxd4 30.Qxb2 Rxb2 31.exd4 Bxd4, Black wins a 3rd pawn. The 3 pawns seem stronger than a minor piece.

Adly should have gone wrong earlier.
