Nov-19-07 | | Softpaw: Have a nice day/night everyone!
Nov-19-07 | | Udit Narayan: If Topalov is the "best player in the world", then why did he embarrass himself against Kramnik in Elista? |
Nov-19-07 | | shach matov: <Softpaw> have a nice day, and until u bring some proof of ur statements , anand is gonna remain #1 in rating and the world chess champion |
Nov-19-07 | | KamikazeAttack: I can't wait to hear the story about this game.
Who offered who the draw.
Were any offers rejected well before the end?
I would find it bizzare that one of them didn't offere a draw during the game. They played it out like there were sulking lol.
Nov-19-07 | | jimmy1913: Look at the record between Anand and Topalov the record speaks for itself! |
Nov-19-07 | | BlackNightmare: lol topa anand, kramnik not it's superman....this chaos wouldnt even exist if Mr K was around...he shut the hell up to a lotta people! lets face it we have yet to see a true champ period lets just wait for the relevant encounters before you open your gobs and vomit your garbage in here ok? am not particularily impressed by winning the utlimate title through a short tournament and thast me i dont give a flying monkey what u think similarily am not impressed by kramniks chess before and after that time and totally disapointed in topa (rather in dainalov) who messed him up big time, our todays' chess is damaged however they are the only three so far that have potential to really take it all this time thats a fact, they are the strongests, anand will have the pressure to defend his euhem title and Kramniks lazy ass will try to regain it but topa is back with a vengence and he wont rest till he gets some |
Nov-19-07 | | Pulse: I'm not sure why <shach matov> is so vehemently denying rating calculations made by others if he hasn't done any himself. Strange. I wonder what that's called? |
Nov-19-07 | | ivan999: Topalov is +1 against Anand in classical chess. |
Nov-19-07 | | badest: <BlackNightmare> Well, we all miss Mr K. :( Topa said it best in an interview: "Chess will not be the same... much of the excitement and creativity will be gone." But, at least we'll have an exciting Corus08 to look forward to: A + K + T... almost like a "mini-Mexico". :) |
Nov-19-07 | | KamikazeAttack: badest I can see u really enjoyed Tal Mem ... lol:) |
Nov-19-07 | | goldenbear: I like this game, good play from both players. |
Nov-19-07 | | Hot Logic: Kramnik said he offered a draw but Ivanchuk didn't accept it. So he played to force a drawn endgame. |
Nov-19-07 | | Jim Bartle: I really don't understand why draw offers are not included in the official game score. |
Nov-20-07 | | KamikazeAttack: <Hot Logic: Kramnik said he offered a draw but Ivanchuk didn't accept it. So he played to force a drawn endgame.> Maybe Chucky wasn't happy about something. He said in his interview few days ago that he was unlucky in his games in Tal Memorial. Losing a whooping 40-odd rating points in a few months must hurt a little. This brings me back to the exciting debate started on Kramnik’s page (on page 1028) with my post below: <KamikazeAttack: The biggest joke on ChessGames is the way u guys keep riding Ivanchuck’s jock. What a laugh!
Ivanchuck has done NOTHING or flopped in top level chess consistently for 10 very good years. Since his revival out of the doldrums few years ago, he has made a career of creaming off B & C level tournaments garnering cheap ratings points. No cutting corners here and no hype.
Until Chucky can outperform or even perform with the big boys in the big tournaments like he did pre-1997, I would not reckon with him. All this Ivanchuk this, Ivanchuck that nonsense is misplaced and tiring already.> You may want to follow the many colourful contributions here Vladimir Kramnik I was never convinced by his #2 rating and those 2787 rating points garnered from B level competitions. Needless to say, Chucky again flops when the big boys are around in a big tournament. I do not want to hear about "Chucky shoulda been in Mexico" or "It was outrageous to leave him out" or similar crap again:) He wouldn’t have done jack!
Ok u can throw your tomatoes at me now.
Nov-20-07 | | whiteshark: <kami> You must take a more relaxed view of things. |
Nov-20-07 | | Aspirador: <He wouldn’t have done jack!> Maybe not jack, but I would say that Chucky is currently the 9 spades of the chess world. |
Nov-20-07 | | ongyj: No No No, Ivanchuk is the Joker of the Chess world -- Sometimes he's as good as the Ace of spade, whereas other times...=) He can be any 1 of the cards due to his instability! |
Nov-20-07 | | dehanne: Kramnik must be the 'Rules of poker' card then. |
Nov-20-07 | | cheski: <Jim Bartle: I really don't understand why draw offers are not included in the official game score> Snap! |
Nov-20-07 | | AgentRgent: <KamikazeAttack> I wouldn't be quite so harsh toward Ivanchuk, but there is something to be said about the overemphasis people place on a player's Rating, even when performance (at the top levels) doesn't coincide with that rating. Someday people will realize that ratings are bunk. |

Harsh? Who? Me? Lol.
I don't dislike any GM and I respect them all to be honest. My caustic style is usually a reaction to particular posts ... nothing personal towards any player or even poster. |

Someday people will realize that ratings are bunk.> It's not the rating increase per say, it's the performance that creates the rating increase. Ivanchuk played outstanding chess in winning Foros '07, part of his big rating increase. He beat players like Shirov and Jakovenko there that he failed completely to beat here. |
Nov-20-07 | | Eyal: Kramnik, in reply to the question as to why Ivanchuk kept playing for so long: "I don't know, somehow he started to get fighting spirit all of a sudden at the end of the tournament"... (http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail...) |
Nov-20-07 | | cotdt: Shame on Kramnik for speaking of "fighting spirit" in such a condescending way |
Nov-20-07 | | Softpaw: <cotdt: Shame on Kramnik for speaking of "fighting spirit" in such a condescending way> No condescension. Just some exquisite Russian irony. Don't you get it? |
