Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-06-07  whiteshark: The position was dead level apart from the fact that he could win a piece by force.
Dec-06-07  syracrophy: Nice trap. After the ♗ moves 6...♕a5+ wins the ♘
Dec-25-07  Timsun: You should have heard the abuse I received after the game - not from my opponent, but from so-called friends! What's wrong with a little trap now and then?!
Jan-09-08  frank124c: White resigns prematurely. In the a previous game--Richard Clewin Griffith vs NN 1888--white continued 6. Nc4 cxb5 7. Nd6# 1-0. Just goes to show, don't resign before you work out all possibilities. This position is well known, in fact, and is called The Mortimer Trap. If anyone wants to see the game I refer to just go to: R C Griffith vs NN, 1888

Also YouTube has several videos on this same trap.

Jan-10-08  Timsun: 6.Nc4 d6 is still winning for Black, but I accept most people would regard White's resignation as premature, especially as I was planning to meet 6.Nc4 with 6...d5 when, surprisingly, White is fine with 7.e5.
Jun-08-08  Xeroxx: tuesday puzzle after 4. ... Ne7
