Sep-25-07  ztnepres: how about 39... Bg4
Sep-25-07  starkidaway: <ztnepres: how about 39... Bg4>

Well, that loses in a more painful death.

39....Bg4

42.Rg8+ Ke7
43.RXR KxR
44.PxB and e2 is answered with Bc2 where white has five pawns and most likely the pawn on f4 will also fal.

I mean, it's almost magical that whole line works and I think it's all forced.

Sep-25-07  Sularus: good lesson on returning material
Sep-25-07  sanyas: <I am not sure what is going on with Grischuk. He spent a lot of time on the clock in the opening. That is not unusual. The unusual part is he spent quite a bit of time starring at the wall instead of the board.>

Sep-25-07  luzhin: I think it's actually a good lesson on how to hold on to material. Who would have thought (except possibly Aronian)after 16.gxh5 that this doubled and isolated extra pawn would eventually force checkmate?
Sep-25-07  Justawoodpusher: An instructive analysis of this game by GM Larry Christiansen is found on this site: http://webcast.chessclub.com/Mexico...
Sep-26-07  MaxxLange: the NYT guy says 35..Rd6 is forced, and maybe Black can hold but good luck
Oct-14-07  stanleys: The final tactical blow is very nice!
Oct-18-07  arsen387: Very interesting link suggested by <Justawoodpusher:>. The game is not perfect as said Cristiansen in the end of his comments, but a very effective finish by Aronian.
Jan-26-14  Dave1: Levon is a beast
