Apr-25-07  HLecter: 32... c2?? It seemed obvious to me at the time, that Rxf2 followed by c2 would simply win a piece. Cant believe Lie didnt see this.
Apr-25-07  Maroczy: I haven't checked all variations but my guess is Lie may have been worried about Krasenkow's c-pawn marching up the board.
Apr-25-07  HLecter: yea. but c2 was no way to stop it (as the game shows). Im pretty sure analysis will show that Rxf2 at least was relatively better.
Aug-10-07  metatron2: yes I was amazed too that he didn't play 32.. rf2, seems like the obvious choice. could he have missed rc2? maybe he just thought about bc2 rf2 nc2 ?
Aug-11-07  saintstephen11: I'm missing the ending. How is 50...e2 refuted?

  tpstar: 50 ... e2 51. Rxd3+ Kxd3 52. Rd6+ (52. h7? e1=Q 53. h8=Q & both sides Queen, giving Black some swindling chances) Kc3/c2/c1 53. Re6 and Black can't prevent 54. Rxe2 followed by 55. h7 & 56 h8=Q winning.
Aug-11-07  saintstephen11: Thanks tpstar! Re6 was the move I was missing. I was thinking Rd6 and then the knight blocks the file supported by the king. Driving the king away was the part I missed. Thanks again!
