Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-17-07  controlaltdelete: Bxg5 f5f6! wins in all variations (Qe5 Qf8# or Bxh6 f6xe7 Re8 Rxf7 or Bxf6 a.)g5g6! b.)Rxf6
Feb-17-07  controlaltdelete: and of course if the bishop does not take: Be5 f5f6, with Qg7# or Bxf6 Rxf6 and mate after Rh2...Qxh7#
Feb-17-07  Paul123: Its good to see somebody play 1.Nf3 with flare and authority. Most Gm's I see use it as a transitional ploy
Apr-05-08  diabloprancer: Paul123, this is a transpositional ploy. According to ChessLife, Black's moves are an attempt to transpose back to the QGA; he's hoping white will play d4. White surprised him with 10.d3 and built a kingside attack instead.
Apr-20-10  Everett: <diabloprancer> This is not a transpositional ploy. White is looking for a different set-up entirely, not a particular type of known set-up.

The game stayed purely a Reti, and a unique one at that, not any other opening, like a QGA or any of the fianchetto lines vs the Indian Defenses. Thus, no transposition.

fredthebear: <controlaltdelete>: FTB found 30...Be5 31.f6 as you posted. If 31...Bxf6 32.gxBf6 is a deadly double attack that threatens 33.Qg7# and 33.fxQe7.
