Sally Simpson: One of the games Reinfeld & Horowitz added to their 1952 book 'Epic Battles of the Chessboard' making room by throwing out two of Staunton's games when they 'revised ' Coles 1948 book 'Battles Royal of the Chessboard.'

(It does appear these two decided it was Staunton out and us two in. The other added game was: O Ulvestad vs F Reinfeld, 1939 )

Apr-11-18  sudoplatov: The Qxd2 (or Qd2 or ...Qd7) move. Seems as if it was useful in Caruana's last GRENKE game.

Sally Simpson: Qxd2 is the new Black.
Sep-08-18  kostich in time: Horowitz was in excellent form at Warsaw, !935, as was Kupchick. This game, against the usually unbeatable Trifunovich, is literally fought until the last pawn. The US had to win this game, as the (relatively)inexperienced Fine had gone down against Dr. Vidmar.
